This competition is open to any student with a creative idea that
has the potential to make change. Innovative social, technical, product and
process ideas are all welcome. We want new ideas and better ideas. We want big
changes and we need to place big bets on new ideas. If you think there is a
better way and you have something to offer this is your opportunity to “Walk the
talk.”

What key characteristics of your idea change the way people do something?
Innovative ideas often come about as the result of a problem or gap in the way
things are currently done. What are the features and benefits of your product or
service? How do you see your idea being used in society? Why would people want
to use your idea instead of the way they do things now? What is your unique
selling point?
- Describe market potential? Value 20%
Who currently provides these or similar products or services and how do the
current solutions compare to your idea? Who is your target market (who will
buy/use your product)? How many customers could use your new idea?
- How will you reach this market? Value 20%
You have determined that your idea has value, what will it take for your idea
to become a reality?
- What are the costs to begin this concept, initiative or business?
Value 10%
Be prepared to articulate the general costs associated with the development
of your idea from a concept to a product, service or to broader applicability in
society.
- Pitch your idea to a judging panel in a 6-8 minute presentation.

Who we are – Why we do it!
This competition is a partnership between the Nova Scotia Association of
Community Business Development Corporations, Nova Scotia Community College, Nova
Scotia University Business Development Allianceand Students in Business. The goals of this
competition are as follows:
1. Create a venue for students to participate in
creative entrepreneurial thinking that will help shape the way they work in
their professional lives. Foster the development of an entrepreneurial culture
in Nova Scotia.
2. Engage students from the sciences, arts, health and human
services, trades and business schools in Nova Scotia.
3. Provide an
opportunity for students to connect their learning to their futures using
experiential processes.
4. Celebrate the ingenuity of Nova Scotia students by
providing a public forum for their work to be showcased.
5. Develop
successful commercial entities that will improve the quality of life in Nova
Scotia.
